Astronomy: Information About The Hubble Telescope

For many of us, when one thinks about astronomy and our amazing capabilities in continuing to always be able to reach further and further out into space, the importance of the Hubble telescope is usually the first astronomy advancement that comes to mind. The Hubble telescope has the capacities to give so much more precise distant views and information of what lies outside our very own earth\'s atmosphere. The Hubble telescope is continuously showing us other planets and space matter far beyond what could ever be seen by the telescopes used here upon earth.

Edwin Hubble is the famous astronomer that the Hubble telescope is named after, but he was not the original inventor of the space telescope that was actually invented over 60 years ago. The original space telescope inventor was Lyman Spitzer and he invented it because he had the belief that astronomers could only truly explore space, without physically traveling into space by building a telescope that would not be hindered by any means in compromising the quality of the images taken. The Hubble space telescope would take a good 40 years before it would be launched into space. Spitzer and the many other scientists and astronomers that perfected the Hubble were able to finally see all of the extremely hard work pay off.

The entire world was astonished by the high outstanding quality sent back to earth by the Hubble space telescope. There had never before that moment been any type of astronomy equipment technologically advanced enough in capability for producing these types of amazing images in deep space that the Hubble sent back. This made the Hubble space telescope highly successful in bringing the reality of space home to us in a way never seen before. It was truly a momentous occasion in the history of contemporary astronomy.

One of the current best things about the Hubble space telescope is that most all of its captured images are free and open to the public for viewing. With all of the Hubble pictures available world wide over the Internet, there has now been access given to more people than ever before thought to be possible of these incredibly amazing images in the deeper outer realms of space. This has brought a shared world view of outer space and a common ground of interests, that has helped contribute to countries better working together now on variously newer outer space projects.

The Hubble telescope has been in orbit for the last 16 years now, and is to be brought back to earth in another 4 years, because of priority changes by NASA and funding issues. The current funding for the Hubble telescope will most likely be allocated for studies in other areas pertaining to NASA\'s varied scientific interests. The Hubble has been an absolutely tremendous tool in providing all of us with a wealth of information while also paving a continuing path within space exploration, never to have been done before.
